Every season hundred of thousand of people hog the super markets, malls and stores in name of off-season sale without even considering the quality and price of the product they are about to buy.
With all the TV ads, magazine ads, and hording across city telling you what you should buy, and if you buy some XYZ product, then you be part of some elite class and people will start perceiving you as different person ( Really?).
Well, below are few things you should not buy and not even bother to look at.
1. You should not buy any thing you cant offord (obvious one)
And of-course I am not suggesting to use your credit cards. Better leave it at home.
If you can’t pay cash, stay home. Don’t watch television or do any activity where there are chances of viewing any of those tempting ads. Take the day off from consumerism!
2. Look at house carefully, do you have space to store any thing you plan to buy?
Assuming you do have the money and have budgeted for some shopping, you may be able to find some good deals. But don’t go overboard!
Don’t start finding faults in those curtains, or floor marbles. They are fine and trust me, you don’t need any those new ones.
3. Don’t buy anything you won’t use after the first few days.
OK…you have the money…you have the space…it’s all good now, right?
Sorry, the answer is BIG NO!!!
There is reason some product is being sold at dirt cheap price. Ask yourself- Is this the best quality product you are buying? Will this be of any use to you?
4. Don’t buy anything advertised as a “Must-have this Holiday Season”
Usually low quality products are replaced with high quality products during sales. Try it yourself. Go to store prior to sale and then go on first day of same before anyone. You will not find same products. And store manager cant make excuse that products are sold and you are late.
5. Don’t buy anything which you plan to buy 6 months later just because its on sale.
Control your Impulse.
Plan out your purchases in order to cut down on the amount of “extras” you come home with.
What else should we NOT be buying this Sale- Season?
For me the key is to have the money and space, while avoiding any hyped, low-quality, or impulse purchases! But what have I left out?
Let know what you will be avoiding this season.
