New York will be getting the world’s tallest Ferris wheel. A 625-foot-tall Ferris wheel is set to debut on Staten Island in 2015, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced. New York Wheel will be located on Staten Island.
This will be world tallest Ferris Wheel when completed. At 625 foot it will out reach the current tallest Ferris wheel – Singapore Flyer, by 84 feet.
Wheel will have 36 football-shaped capsules and each will have capacity for over 40 people i.e. at one time this Ferris can occupy a maximum capacity of 1,440 per 38-minute ride. Ferris is expected to ride over 30,000 riders a day and an estimated 4.5 million visitors per year.
This grand tourist attractions is bound to attract lot of eyeballs and for sure will become one of the must visit sites in New York. The giant Ferris wheel will be accompanied with huge commercial complex and hotels.
