Iconic British brand Mini, which was unveiled at the Auto Expo earlier this year in January has unveiled the small but premium car will between Rs 25.5 lakh and Rs 35.9 lakh, ex-showroom. The MINI, which will be retailed through exclusive outlets in Mumbai and Delhi, will be imported in India and its range will include the hatch, convertible and countryman.
Mini is likely to hit the Indian roads by mid of this year. BMW is also planning to open 5-6 exclusive Mini showrooms in the country including emerging markets like Hyderabad, Chandigarh and Pune.
“We were planning to launch Mini in India at ex-showroom price starting at Rs 24 lakh,” said Andreas Schaaf, president, BMW Group India. “After the new duty structure came into place the starting price will be Rs 25.5 lakh.”
The top-most variant Mini Cooper S Countryman High will cost Rs 35.9 lakh while Mini Cooper Convertible will come for Rs 30.7 lakh.
India is the 100th country where Mini is being launched. The completely built unit is being imported from the UK. “We will start delivery by May,” said Schaaf. “We have already got 100 bookings. We plan to deliver 20-30 cars a month.” Mini has sold two million units worldwide ever since its launch.
