I could not think of better headline to describe this article. I was shocked to see the news last night about more than 21,000 expired bottles of Pepsi found in Allahabad and Jhansi.
But was I really shocked? Not exactly!!!
I am not really surprised if some local distributor and company decided to float the expired bottles without any batch number or serial number for few thousands of extra money for the “Youngistan’s” of Pepsi. These bottles were ceased by police and charges have been slapped against the concerned.
But what makes this episode more interesting is the audacity of people involved. They did not hesitate for a bit when they decided to play with lives and health of common people. Just imagine the effect if same would have been gone to market and people would be died and fallen ill.
Could company bring back the lives of people? Who has given them the right to kill? Are they answerable to anyone? Are there no ethics for doing business?
Probably company thinks otherwise and it is OK for them to indulge in such kind of unprofessional and unethical practices.
It is not for the first time that these kinds of unprofessional conduct have happened. Few years back there was huge row over the Insecticides being found in these soft drinks? The company did a huge CSR activity and publicity to nullify the affect.
The soft drinks are anyways not considered good for health and with this kind of negligence on part of company can only be considered unethical and unprofessional.
Company officially has not yet come with any statement on the issue but will keeping tight-lipped going to help any one.
People seek the answer and company better come up with a nice excuse.
What do you feel about this unethical practice by Pepsi?
