The German luxury car maker BMW is on the finishing stage of launching its iconic luxury car X1 in another week. This SUV will roll out as the cheapest among the segment Rs. 23 lakhs and will be available in petrol and diesel versions. There will be two basic models, BMW X1 Corporate Edition and BMW X1 Highline; the petrol version will be of 1.8L engine and the diesel with 2.0L engine.
The car will be assembled in the Chennai plant as imported CKDs and in future the car will be manufactured in India. X1 will come with 1955cc, 4-cylinder diesel engine and X1 sDrive20d for effecting 176bhp peak power with 35.5kgm peak torque. The speed of this BMW car will be unbeatable, 6-speed; while Corporate Edition is coming with 1.8lit petrol engine releasing 150bhp.
But even though the car that is facing competition from the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and Mitsubishi Outlander, the X1 it is likely to be one of BMW’s the most successful launch in India as it has already got 200 bookings in Delhi alone.
Those waiting for the full wheel drive version, will have to wait longer; as the launch date is not known yet.
