Amazon unveiled its new tablet PC – Amazon Kindle Fire. Amazon Kindle Fire tablet comes with latest version of Android operating system.
The Kindle Fire tablet has a 7-inch screen, free data storage over the Internet and a new browser called Amazon Silk and comes with price tags of $199. Amazon also introduced a touch-screen version of its e-reader, to be called Kindle Touch.
The Amazon Kindle Fire offers access to 18 million movies, TV shows, songs, magazines, and books from the Amazon Marketplace, and offers free cloud storage for all of your purchased content though Amazon’s “EC2″ which is one of the major differentiator if compared with other tablet PC’s available in market.
As compared to its contemporaries Amazon Kindle Fire only has wi-fi capabilities, not 3G which is one of the major laggards as you are heavily dependent on internet connection.
The new Kindle screen is vibrant and colorful, which is great for movies and magazines, but this also means that the Fire has lost the easy-to-read Ink Pearl screen which made outdoor reading easier. The Kindle Fire also lacks the cameras.
But all is not lost as Amazon makes up for this with their Whispersync technology which allows you to start a movie on your Fire, and pick it up right where you left off.
Price: The Kindle Fire costs $199 as compared to the iPad 2 which costs about $499 to $799 depending on the amount of storage and connectivity.
New Kindle Fire has a battery life of about upto 8 hours of continuous reading or 7.5 hours of video playback, with wireless off.
