The luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz has announced and confirmed he launch of its roadster version of its SLS AMG, the 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster. The new AMG Roadster will make debut at the Frankfurt Auto show in coming September (September 15-25).

The new variant comes with many changes done in ‘Gullwing’ SLS AMG Coupe’which made debut in 2009. 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster has done away with doors and fixed roof for traditional entry-ports and a folding cloth softtop.
The engine performance remains same like ‘Gullwing’ which is powered by a 571-horsepower V8 engine built by AMG. Car can hit a top speed of 317 km/h (197mph) and weighs only 2 KG more than the SLS AMG Coupé.

The drop-top SLS car will be set in an aluminum spaceframe and a cross-member support for the dashboard with added bracing at the window frame and transmission tunnel.
Although Mercedes-Benz says its current models are prototypes (hence no badge), it looks as if the final version of the SLS AMG Roadster is pretty much complete.
